Austin Hernandez (he/him) is a designer based in New York City. He uses research and design to build solid, accessible, and user-friendly digital services. Before the hostile government takeover, he worked as a Product Designer at 18F

He has almost two decades of experience working in design, tech, and enterprise ecommerce platforms. He’s done design and research for global corporations, including AT&T, Marks and Spencer, Sephora, and Tesco, and he’s worked with individual clients on smaller scale projects and products. Austin spent the last 8 years in civil service, working with U.S. federal agencies, states, and sovereign Tribal Nations simplifying interactions between people and government. 

Austin has been invited to speak at conferences and universities for his work in the intersections of art, design, data, civic technology, and identity. He also sits on the board of directors for Maven Youth, a nonprofit that empowers LGBTQ+ youth to network, organize and educate for social change.
